My family's condolences go out to the Cunningham family. Although we never met, we had a long-distance connection with Walt last year through my Houstonian brother-in-law who knew Walt personally. At my brother-in-laws request, Walt signed a photo of himself in a flight suit with a personalized message in a vintage magazine article about his Apollo 7 flight for my grandson. This is Mary Cooley Craddock sending you my sincere condolences on the death of Walt. I just saw the obituary in the newspaper and commend his wonderful life. He will be missed.
My husband John grew up in Walt's neighborhood and remembers him as a wonderful man. He joins me in sending our sympathies.

I had the honor of meeting Walt and his wife, Dorothy, back in 2016. Walt had such a fascinating perspective on life from his time in space. He was clearly a brilliant man but so humble. And Dot was the warmest, kindest woman. We filmed a short doc about what he hoped his legacy would be upon his passing.
