Walter Francis Downes

Downes, Walter Francis. July 12, 2007. Age 83 of Allen Park. Beloved husband for 59 years of Lucille. Loving father of Geraldine Downes and Walter (Linda) Downes. Dearest grandfather of Samantha and Madelyn Downes. Dear son of the late Claude and Marguerite Downes and dear brother of Beatrice (Theodore) Orlicki and the late James (Annamae), Eileen (Arthur) Hagen, Charlotte (Allen) Snyder, Virginia (Edward) Collins, Leo (Shirley) and William. Special uncle to many nieces and nephews. Mr. Downes was a WW ll US Navy Veteran, a former Scoutmaster of Troop 1061, a member of the Father Saylor K of C Council, Allen Park, and a member of the St. Frances Cabrini Ushers Club for 47 years. Mr. Downes was retired from the Grand Trunk railroad. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. Prayers at the Funeral Home 9:30 a.m. on Monday July 16, 2007 with Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 9000 Lawrence, Allen Park. Visitation will be on Saturday from 5-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-9 p.m. with a K of C Rosary at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Voran Funeral Home (Allen Park Chapel) 5900 Allen Rd. Internment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, MI. Family suggests memorial donations to the Clare Murphy Scholarship Fund, St. Frances Cabrini High School.
