DRWAL, Walter - Of Goodrich, age 77, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Evangelist James Kratz, Priest David Lutz and Priest Dennis Montrull officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the New Apostolic Church. Visitation 4-8PM Thursday 11AM-3PM and 5-8PM Friday and 9AM Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Walter was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 18, 1928. He married Reatha Darlene Nichols on December 1960 in Frankenmuth and was active in the New Apostolic Church. Walter owned several rental properties since the age of 26. With the help of his wife Darlene and son Darcy, he owned and operated The Berridge Hotel in downtown Flint for 27 years. He loved fishing, reading and enjoyed eating at Big Boy and Bob Evans Restaurants. In his youth, he was a Journeymen Electrician and served 2 years in the Naval Reserve. Surviving are wife, Darlene; son, Dr. Walter R. and wife Christina Drwal; daughter, Melody Drwal of Florida; sons, Darcy D. Drwal and Heidi of Burton, Dr. Jason M. Drwal and Kat of Iowa; grandchildren, Brandi, Jonathan, Nickolas, Alexandria, Heather and Alexis; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Bernice; granddaughter, Natalie Drwal; sisters, Eleanor Uhl, Cassandra Kolp and Dolores Whipple.

Mrs. Darlene Drwal and Family, I'm so sorry to hear about the lost of Mr. Walter Drwal Senior this morning. I know he'll be truly, truly missed and loved. It's have been truly wonderful to know him and the family he had to leave behind. I appreciate all the times he and the family have been very nice to me, while I stayed at the Berridge Hotel. Darlene, I always enjoyed my relationship with Walter. He was a wonderful person. My thoughts are with you and your family.I still have the little dog your daughter gave me
