Walter H. Hackett Jr.

Walt was one of the last true gentlemen. He was quite a character, but wouldn't hesitate to lend a hand. He will be missed by everyone who knew him, and I will always remember him with a smile.

Hi Neighbor,
We have been very fortunate to have you as neighbors. You are great neigbors. We will miss seeing Walter out with his animals. He talked to them and know that Lillian and Ethel ( the goats ) knew exactly what he was saying. We called the goats Lucy and Ethel. Walter had a kind, and dear heart. Now when we hear the animals out back we feel Walter is there with them somehow. May Heavenly Father bless you Linda,and Michael, and may He comfort you at this time.

Just wanted to give my condolences to you and to say that I enjoyed working with Wally these past 2 years. He is a great man, although very outspoken, he always spoke the truth. He is loved by us all in Records at the Rancho Station, and he is truly going to be missed. This place wouldn't have been the same, and it's not going to be the same without him..
Love you and miss you Walt... You will never be forgotten!

I am so sorry to hear about Walter's passing. I have thought of the two of you often and did not know how to get in touch with you. I would have come to the funeral but I just found out today. My prayers and thoughts are with you. Please e mail me when you can. Love Sue

To my friend Liz and family, Those of us here at the Montclair Post Office who knew Wally when he worked here as a carrier, would like to send our condolences to you. He was a great guy who always kept us laughing. I for one will always have fond memories of The Walt. With love,

My father was a man of strong principles with a heart of gold he always tried to hide. Many holidays he'd bring a woman from his route he'd befriended to dinner. She'd been born deaf, dumb and legally blind but somehow the two of them could talk on and on. I couldn't count the number of small animals he saved over the years. He truly believed in helping those who couldn't help themselves and never stopped trying to make a difference.

Linda and family:

I am so saddened to read of Walters passing. He was a man of conviction and would not compromise on his beliefs. He spoke out clearly and distinctly never waivering for the sake of public opinon.

May God comfort you with the memories of his life and legacy, and the sure knowledge of his life eternal.

Although we didn't keep in touch as much as I wanted, I considered Walt a dear friend. He was a great story teller and had the wisdom of the years. I will miss him greatly. My heart felt condolences to his family, especially Linda and his son Michael.
