I saw Walter regularly but very briefly because Dorothy generously hosted the meetings of the Women Writing Women's Lives steering committee until the age of Zoom. While I didn't know him except to say hello, I liked his kind, handsome face very much and was awed by his antique camera collection, which was on display in the apartment; I felt not only that such an interest indicated a keen scientific mind but an awareness and appreciation of the collective history those cameras must represent....

It was with sadness that I recently received notification of your husband and our valued alumnus Walter's passing. I am writing to extend my deepest sympathy on behalf of the New York University Tandon School of Engineering and the Polytechnic Alumni Association.
