HILL, WALTER, age 91, of Birmingham, died Friday, June 9, 2006. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Poole Funeral Chapel directing.

Mr. Hill was a very gentle and kind man. When he found out how much I loved fish, he would always bring me some fish from his fishing trips. Sardis and the community have experienced a great loss.

Thank you, Tony for all the lives you touched. Thank you for letting GOD use you to do his will in the earth. You will be greatly missed.

I have known Mr.Hill all of my of my life.From my earliest memory of life at Sardis Baptist church,it seemed that every time I was there so was Mr.Hill.My Mother and Father were Deaconess and Deacon and me and my siblings were involved in every program that Sardis offerred.I knew all of the clergy and deacons and trustees.They helped to shape my faith and developmentas a man,husband and Father.Mr.Hill taught me by example how to be dutiful about your job. he taught me to be faithful in the...

Faithful Servant! Mr. Hill was the living example of the image of servanthood. He lived his faith and was a beacon of light for all at Sardis Baptist Church. He was constant in his faithfulness. He will truly be missed! He is now among the 'great cloud of witnesses' and I thank God for having known him. We all need to aspire to his example.

I have known Mr Hill all of my life. Next to my own Grandfather, he was the sweetest man I had ever met. He always seemed excited and happy to see me. He had such a big heart and his smile would just make my day. I asked my mom who used to live across the street from Mr Hill as a child if he was always that sweet because sometimes sweetness may come to a person when the get old.
