He was a very talented actor and singer and I learned much from him. His stories and jokes were always uplifting. Whitey loved his family very much. You are in my prayers at this sad time.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the family of Walter Johnston, Jr. I played his sidekick "Slade" in Gold in the Hills for at least 7 years (late 70's to early 80's). Whitey was always very professional and took me under his wing and taught me "the ropes" about how to do melodrama. I will always remember his kindness and his smile to all the cast members as well as the audience after each show. He will always be my favorite "Villain".
