Johnson Funeral Home - Lake Charles Obituary

Born in Virginia in 1948, the 3rd child of Oscar and Lucile, Walter Larry Jones had a life filled with love.

Larry loved his girls.  He knew he wanted to marry Linda the first time he saw her.  They married younger than their parents wanted them to, but after 53 years their marriage...

Not sure what to say?

I'm not particularly good at this, but I wanted you to know I was watching the service from Virginia. I have a lot of strong, ingrained memories of Uncle Larry. I remember the van, summer and Thanksgiving get togethers at grandmas and a very early memory of a crab boil when I was much younger. If memory serves, his mustache was bigger than his tank tank top at that time. lol. A big personality that I identified with then and now that I am older. I wish I was able to spend more time...

Amazing man, husband and daddy!!!! My heart goes out to his 3 leading ladies-Linda, Amy and Sandy. I am so sorry for your loss.

Just the memory of this wonderful man brings a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. It was a privilege to know you, Mr. Larry. Wishing comfort and peace to Mrs. Linda, Amy and Sandy.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. My condolences on your loss.

Larry and I have been best buddies since our youth in Virginia, we both attended the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School. We went our separate ways for a few years and then found ourselves working together at Exxon in Baton Rouge. Our families became close and remained so for the rest of all these years. We will miss him dearly and hope to remain close with his "girls", all three of them!

We are sorry for the family's loss. Larry was a classmate for one year, our final year of high school. We later became closer friends with his sister Peggy and her family. I even had the joy of being their pastor for a time, as well as having Peggy and Alvin travel with us to Israel in 2006. Again, we are sorry for your loss.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

He was a great guy and friend

Deepest sympathy to Larry’s family and friends. Larry and I graduated from Forest Glen High School in the first graduating class (1966). I had only seen him once since then. He was a joy to be around.
May you find comfort and peace in the coming days from the prayers lifted.
