Not sure what to say?

One of the best teachers I've ever had! I have used and passed on everything I ever learned from him.

I was introduced to know Walter in undergrad when he was my photo professor. In grad school I had the honor of working for Walter for two summers cataloguing his library so that it could be donated to the UofA in the future. It gave me a unique experience with Walter and Jenny working in their basement and talking about all his books. He was a great storyteller and true lifelong learner, teacher and mentor. He will be missed. My thoughts and condolences to Walter's family and friends.

Walter was a colleague and good friend whom I first met in 1975. Over the years, I was able to share his knowledge and wisdom when meeting him in Canada or abroad. I admired Walter's sense of humour and his gentleness. Since we shared the same mother tongue, our contacts were particularly meaningful.
My condolences to his family.

You will be fondly remembered every time I have wine and cheese - you introduced me to the fine German wines that I now love. Rest in peace.

I will never forget his funky walk and the story he told me about how he developed that special canter. As a Lithographer, I can certainly appreciate it and Walter will always have a special place in my heart. My condolences to his family and friends.

I am sad for the news of Walter's passage. I believe I first met him in 1983 when he came to Halifax for the Annual General Meeting of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada. He brought great thoughtfulness and worldliness to the challenge of design and educating designers. Thank you Walter for all that you contributed in Canada and in your work internationally. It was a pleasure and honour to have known you. My condolences to the family.

I am saddened to find out that Walter has passed away. I know when I was in his class he was a powerful and inspiring teacher. He always made you want to do your very best work. My condolences to his family.
