KRUGER, JR., Walter Walter James Kruger, Jr., husband of Shirley Venning Kruger entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 22, 2007. Mr. Kruger was born in Charleston on Monday, May 21, 1928, a son of Walter James Kruger, Sr. and Mary Louise Burmester Kruger. He was a graduate of Charleston High School and attended Georgia Institute of Technology. Mr. Kruger was a retired employee with Carolina Shipping Company. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the Charleston Yacht Club and was an avid fisherman. Surviving are his wife, Shirley V. Kruger; two sons, Walter J. Kruger III and his wife, Sandra and Steven V. Kruger, both of Atlanta, GA , a granddaughter, Logan Kruger of Brooklyn, NY, a brother, Louis J. Kruger of the Isle of Palms, a loving niece, Janice Moniz, and numerous other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday evening between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. A Vigil Service will be held at the funeral home beginning at 6:00 pm. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Kruger, Jr. are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am, Friday, October 26, 2007 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be in Riverview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider memorial contributions to Blessed Sacrament Church, Building Fund, 5 St. Teresa Dr., Charleston, SC 29407, Westminister Presbyterian Church, Endowment Fund, 1157 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., Charleston, SC 29407 or a Charity of One's Choice. Shirley and Family, my prayers are with you. Walter was a wonderful & kind man. I enjoyed working with him at Carolina Shpg, and learned much from him. One of my fondest memories is watching the two of you dance at the Christmas parties ! He'll always be in our hearts.
