Walter W. Leonard

I was very saddened to learn in 2018 of Walter's passing that summer. We were good friends in high school - he bailed me out more than once in Latin III class - but lost contact after I got married in 1972 and moved away; we began to email some and to exchange cards in about 2015 after we linked up through a posting on our high school Class of 1970 website. On Memorial Day 2019 we held the 102nd remembrance. Service for the men and Canadian child buried in the Royal Flying Corps Cemetery. Greenwood provided a wreath in Walts memory to which we fastened a nice 8x10 photo of Walt that was taken in 2018 when we marked the 100th anniversary of Captain Vernon Castles passing. Walt was an avid historian and collector of historical objects. His office reminded me of the Smithsonian Institute, only smaller. He was a good person and a good lawyer. I will miss seeing him in the halls of the Mallick Tower.

Walt Leonard added so much to the Memorial Day observance for the Royal Flying Corp at Greenwood. We certainly are going to miss his presence.
