Jackson Memorial Funeral Service - Jackson Obituary

Walter McAfee was born on October 7th, 1951 in Jackson, MS. He was known by many as Buddy. Walter was the sixth of eleven children born to the late Rachel (Cole) McAfee and Ed McAfee, both preceding him in death.

Walter and his family were baptized together at New Bethel Baptist Church in the year of 1987, under the leadership of the late Reverend Doctor W. D. Carr.

Walter attended Central and Lanier High school. His occupation was a professional tile sitter, until he retired in June 2014. He was a family man with a quiet loving spirit. He loved cooking, sports, cleaning, yard work, outdoor grilling, there was nothing at his home that he was not prepared to handle. He was a husband, father, grandfather, uncle and just a man of love and joy.

Walter met his loving wife in high school, Brenda Johnson. They were united in marriage for over 46 years. Through this union, God blessed them to parent two children LaTarsha Johnson and Walter McAfee Jr.

Late Tuesday night November 17th, 2020, the Angel of the Lord came to escort Walter back to his Heavenly Father.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Mary Jewel Williams, Sylvester McAfee, Betty Jean Wanzo and Gene McAfee.

Walter leaves to cherish him memory: his loving wife, Brenda McAfee, two children LaTarsha Johnson, Walter (Chelsea) McAfee Jr. Ten Grandchildren: Jalon, Albreyun, Kaia, Jnyah, Mckenzie, Laylah, Sanai, Khaliah, Khamariah and Julian. His siblings: Eddie McAfee, Jr. of Aberdeen, MD; Helen Hudson, Pauline (Van-Curtis) Williams, Faye (Larry) Green Ft. Dis, New Jersey, Steve McAfee and Perry McAfee. Mother-in-law Ora Lee Johnson, One sister-in law Faye Peterson, two brothers-in- law James Johnson Jr., and Carl (Virginia) Johnson, special nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

Not sure what to say?

I know your heart is troubled, but God. Even when things seems to get rough and you feel like you have had enough. There is a Man who will never leave your side. Just call His name, Jesus. Your friend always, Willena.

Walter was my #1 friend of all time. My best friend ever. We were always together. Although I am 2,000 miles away, I never forgot him. And I want to thank the Lord Jesus Christ for allowing me to speak to him and pray with him one last time. To Brenda and family, and to all of Walter's family members, I am praying for you, for God's peace to abide on you at this time for your loss. I believe that we will see him again in heaven.

Praying for comfort and strength .
