Dear Fred and Laurie,
Our deepest sympathy to you and your family on the loss of your father and grandfather. We know it is always hard for those left behind here on earth. We pray that God's peace, love, and comfort will surround all of you as you look forward to being reunited with him in heaven. God's Blessings always.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Dearest John, Heidi and the Metzger family,
My heartfelt condolences go out to you. A loss of a parent is heartbreaking, but I hope the lifetime of memories you carry with you will be a comfort in the days ahead. Your dad was a wonderful man dedicated to carrying on German tradition through the restaurant, the Schwaben Verein, and the many other ways he contributed to the community all these years. Thinking of you...

Will always be proud to be a Metzger. Say Hi to my dad for me.

My body may be in California but my heart and prayers will be with the entire Metzger family in Ann Arbor tomorrow. Thank you for sharing your dad with us....thank you for loving him so well...thank you for helping everyone celebrate his life, his work and his love for Ruth and his family. May God permeate the day.

John Really sorry to hear of the passing of yur very fine dad. Remember all the days there for lunch and either yu or yur dad bringing Mickie and myself our libations for lunch. Glad to hear the new place is doing well. Jim Conlin

Heidi and Jim,
We are very sorry to hear about your loss. You both and your family are in our prayers. Heidi, he had a wonderful daughter of whom, we are sure, he was very proud. Greg and Sandi Gessert

John

Our last visit to Metzger's before moving to Florida, we were pleased to be able to visit with your dad at your restaurant. He was a gracious man and so very proud of his family. The world is a sadder place without him.

You and your family are in our prayers.

When my father brought his German war-bride and his new daughter back to the States in 1954, my mother was a waitress at Metzger's. It's an Ann Arbor institution without parallel. We're so sorry for your loss. Ruhe in Frieden, Herr Metzger.

I was blessed to be able to meet Walter for the first time last year, and we we shared stories of our common connections to Wilhelmsdorf. He was a wonderful kind man. My thoughts, prayers, and condolences to all the family.
