Getting to know a kind stranger, I met Walter on August 2017 on sitting next to him on a flight going to Chicago for a bridal shower. Though Chicago was a transfer flight, he was on his way to a Marine Corps Retirement party in Dallas (if memory serves). I got to know Walter on this flight as we shared stories back and forth. I reconnected with Walter in 2017 at a reunion of the 26th Marines. Walter told the story of a medevac that required getting 2 Marine helicopters dispatched, having to blow trees with C4 and get a basket lowered to make my medevac happen. Thanks to Walter´s efforts and All marines involved my life was saved. Also enjoyed my recent visit with him and meeting his nurse Barbara.
