REV. WALTER H. REUNING

I had the great blessing of serving under his direction at First Lutheran Church in Boston, 1982-85, and he graciously came to Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne to ordain me in the seminary chapel, with another of his mentorees, Robert Marshall as deacon. My wife Barbara worked as your secretary and was a great admirer, also! Rest in peace O ransomed Soul by virtue of the Lord Jesus Christ whom you have served so faithfully and humbly!

The time he blessed our little garden in NYC...or when we all played Dictionary in my living room...or when we set up two long tables in my tiny apartment to have what I think was a Thanksgiving dinner?...or anytime he visited Jon in NYC and stopped over to say hello or say something witty or profound. Too many memories to list, but all good, and warm, and remembered.

My deep sympathies to Jon & family. May he RIP.

Pastor Reuning and Donna were the most welcoming pair at First Lutheran Church in Boston when I was on my own for the 1st time. I'll always remember his sage advice and comforting presence. Rest in Peace.
