Walter was a larger-than-life type of person that movies are usually made about and one is considered quite fortunate to meet and very fortunate to get to know. I consider myself very fortunate to have gotten to know Walter and will always treasure the experiences and memories. Railroading just isn't the same without him. Rest in peace, Walter.

I am Harriet (Rich) Law's oldest daughter and stayed many times with George and Doretta (Walter's parents). As an older cousin I remember Walter best as a small boy, always very serious.
I extend my sympathies to the family.

We grew up in Franklin with Walter, and are saddened to learn of his death at such an early age. We knew him as a helpful, gentle, caring man performing many acts of generosity and kindness in a quiet way many knew nothing of. He will be missed greatly. Our sympathy is extended to his family.
