Not sure what to say?

We are so sorry about the loss of your Dad, Walter. Your mom, Jan, was our Registrar at Lawrence Memorial in the School of Nursing and we loved her so much. My husband Jack also knew your dad Walter from the Elks in Winthrop. I haven't seen your dad since visits to Jan at Shaughnessey Hospital. We're so sorry for his loss. They were both too young. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Love,Judy Silck, Director, Academics, Lawrence Memorial, School of Nursing

We will always remember and keep in our prayers both Jan and Walter. It was really a shock to see Walter's name listed in the paper and we keep only wonderful memories of both of them in our hearts. Love to all of the family. May God watch over you all. From all of us here at the School of Nursing.

Walter was so pleasant to work with. He was so dedicated to his students and his profession. We will all remember his big smile and warm personality. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and colleagues.

you will be truly missed. Rest in Peace

Mr. Shaw was one of the finest men I've ever met. He's touched countless lives and made a positive difference for everyone who was lucky enough to cross paths with him.

We were stunned to hear that Mr. Shaw had passed. Our Prayers are with you and your family. When I was in culinary I remember Mr. Shaw was always the first to compliment on something and always good for a laugh. He has helped my brother just this year! He will truly be missed! God bless.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Shaw family. I will remember Mr. Shaw as a great teacher to me at the Lafayette School as well as a wonderful Guidance Counselor at Everett High. I had the priviledge of being a Guidance Aide and interacting with him more often than most students. He was an inspiration and very generous with his time. What an outstanding human being and role model he was. He will surely be missed!

With Deepest Sympathy,

Class of 91

Walter was one of the good guys. I was stunned to learn of his passing. I knew Walter both as a member of the Elks in Winthrop and as a Boston Globe reporter. Walter bailed us out on a number of occasions with help on school issues, often when we were scrambling for comment from students and administrators because of last minute changes. I miss him both personally and professionally. I hope you are comforted at least a little in the knowledge that he was universally liked and respected....

To the entire Shaw family, My deepest sympathy during this very sad time. Wally Shaw was admired and respected by so many people. Whenever he walked into any of our "schools" the smiles would abound. His grandchildren (and children) were his pride and joy; his love for his family was always apparent. May your memories be fond ones. He will be missed. With sorrow, chickie
