Not sure what to say?

I used to meet up with Wally at McDonalds in New London on Saturdays. We loved chatting about sports and I used to tease him about the Red Sox ~ I'm a New York fan. We'd have some really good conversations. I was sad when weeks went by and I didn't see him at McDonalds. I'd keep inquiring about him on every visit and was saddened to hear that he had been in a nursing home and past away.
I miss our conversations!
Please accept my deepest condolences, he was a fun breakfast friend....

Gary and Jim,

Sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad. He gave a lot of his time teaching young kids in and around Stonington how to play basketball. He would get us games in a lot of different venues. We played in gyms in New London and my favorite was the Sub Base. The court looked huge to a bunch of 12 year olds.

And that is what I will remember best about Wally. He gave something you can never get back. And that was his time.

RIP Wally.

I remember a baseball game I played at Veterans Field in New London. Wally played against my team in the Morgan League back in 1966 or 1967. He always wore a pro California Angels hat that had the embroidered halo on top. Remember he batted lefty and he played first base? or outfield. He was always a cheerful person and a good player. What I'd like to tell you is I was playing first base for my team when Wally got up to the plate and ended up hitting a long home run over the right-field...

Dave and Rhonda, My condolences on your loss--treasure your memories of a life well-lived. Blessings to you and your family!

Walt was a good friend. Knew him at least since '79, first as a guard, then as a laborer. Wally will always be remembered. RIP good buddy.

Thank you Walt for all you contributed to the Stonington Como Youth basketball programs. You were an iconic figure of my youth, way before I learned the meaning of that term. Rest in peace.
