Not sure what to say?

My husband and I were both blessed to have Walter for history classes at CCC. What a pure joy his classes were, and what a man of intellect, humor and integrity Professor Smith was. Truly a scholar. We both fondly remember his sharing the "words of wisdom" from his daily Salada tea bags! His pure love of teaching, learning and history showed in all that he did. We shall always remember him fondly.

I remember Walter as a true & devoted Rotarian, very concerned about our community, a true educator & gentleman at heart! Walter.... You can rest in peace, your work has been well done...

Fellow Rotarian... David Howard.

I was in his first history class and he was a great teacher.Condolences to family and friends. Bob Maclemale CCC class of 1960.

I'm sorry to hear of Professor Smith's passing. I really enjoyed the class on current events that he taught. His commentary and his personal stories were very interesting. I agree with Jack Milliken: Interesting, witty, and urbane. He was a great guy and I'll never forget him.

I was one of the early students at CCC ('59-'61)and took Western Civ from Walter Smith. Never forgot him. He was already a "man of the world" then.

Ed Miller, Class of 1961
