Walter M. Stoops

To the family of Walter M. Stoops:

It is with great admiration and respect that I offer my condolences on the death of Mr. Stoops. I saw in the Express-News that he was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Greatest Generation. My late father-in-law, Henry Van de Putte Sr., was a Navy pharmacist mate aboard the U.S.S. South Hampton, which saw action in the Pacific, including Iwo Jima. My childhood memories include living down the street from the Stoops family on Dody Street in Corpus Christi. I often recall the warm friendliness that Mr. Stoops displayed when I went to Parkdale State Bank. Mr. Stoops loaned me the money to buy my first car in 1967. His son Walter was a great friend who I have lost touch with over the years.
