Wally, too, was a mentor to me as a copy boy for Chicago Today sports section. Not a career for me but a summer job and experience. It´s funny how one remembers people who made you feel good. Wally was that guy.

I'm so sorry to hear of Wally's passing. I first met him when I joined the Chicago Today sports department as a copy boy in 1970, right out of high school. I had no idea what I was doing, but Wally and the other copy editors were always ready to answer my questions and put me on the right path. He was a good guy.

One of the few home videos we have from childhood is my first birthday party with Wally, Maria and the kids. It captures the good times our families had together and the generosity Wally and Maria showed towards me as my godparents. Memories of your dad and the laughs shared will live on with the Marley´s forever.
