The family of Walter D. Utz Jr.  of Wichita Falls, Tx is saddened to announce his passing on January 20, 2021 at the age of 88.


Walter was born on November 22, 1932 in Liberty County, Texas to Maggie M. (Mathews) and Walter D. Utz Sr. Walter graduated from Livingston High School in Livingston, TX.


Walter joined the Air Force in 1951 rising to the rank of Master Sargent before retiring in 1972.After retiring from the military, Walter spent many years at Siemens before retiring.


Walter had many hobbies and loves; you could always find him tinkering in his shop or garage. He was the go-to person in the family to ask if there was something wrong with your car or if you wanted to build something out of wood, he especially loved making crosses out of black walnuts. Walter was also the Boy Scout Master of Troup 123 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, TX.


On February 5th 1959, Walter married the love of his life Lillian F. (Roberts) Utz. They travelled through many states due to the Air Force and settled down in Wichita Falls, Texas. They have 3 beautiful children Dennis M. Utz, Teresa K. (Utz) Offield and Martha F. Utz.


Walter never met a stranger, he loved to talk to anyone about cars. He would light up the room with his positive personality and big warm smile.


Walter was greeted at Heaven’s Gate by his parents Maggie and Walter D. Utz Sr., his son-in-law Steven D. Offield, his grandson Adam Utz, his great granddaughter Roberta Reed-Utz, his sisters Willie K. (Utz) Immel, Jannie (Utz) Griffith and brother Leroy Utz.


Walter will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lillian F. (Roberts) Utz of Wichita Falls, TX, son Dennis M. Utz and wife Dee of Athens, AL, daughters Teresa K. (Utz) Offield of Burkburnett, TX and Martha F. Utz of Wichita Falls, Tx. Grandchildren Korey Utz and wife Sara, Billie Offield, Derrick Utz and wife Tiffany, Melissa Mills and husband Jim, Chris Utz, Steven Offield and wife Christie, David Offield and wife Stephanie, and April Adams. Great grandchildren Bri Mills, Ian Utz, Sophia Steadman, Teryn Utz, Colton Utz, Westen Offield, Nathan Steadman, Krey Offield, Maddison Offield, Kenadie Offield, Balen Brown and Hollis Offield and many more beloved relatives and friends.


Friends and family will be received on January 29, 2021 from 5-7PM at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, TX.


A private service will be held at the family’s request due to COVID-19.


Memorial Donations may be made in Walter D. Utz Jr name to Hospice of Wichita Falls (4409 Johnson Rd, Wichita Falls TX 76310) or Emmanuel Baptist Church (220 Valley View Rd. Wichita Falls, TX 76306).

Mr. Walter Utz was a U.S. military hero, a faithful husband and a great dad. RIP, sir.

We will be bathing your family and friends in our prayers as you say your earthly goodbyes, and await heavens glorious reunion!

Walter was In charge of the Dining Hall store room at Sheppard Regional Medical Center when I arrived for my first duty assignment in 1967. He always had a smile on his face, while working his shift. He was a great leader. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.

I attended Emmanuel Baptist Church along with the Utz family many years ago. I have many fond memories of the Utz family. My condolences to you. May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
