When my husband and I lived in Seaside, we became friends with the Weber family from then on. Spike introduced us to clam-digging, crabbing, boating on Hood Canal, fresh salmon dinners. He was a man on the go, patient, fun-loving, devoted to family and friends, and ready to help anyone at anytime. I will miss Spike's zest for life, his dedication to preserving the wilderness, his warm humanity. Heartfelt condolences to his family.

The North Nehalem hatchery crew all liked working with Walt , helping with fish projects and doing deer and elk surveys at night. Walt was a good sportsman and I fondly remember times spent fishing together. Condolences to his family Walt will be missed.

Walt mentored me on steelhead spawning surveys on his beloved Salmonberry River. We had many enlightening conversations about fish, fishing, hunting, and wild things in general. I wish we could have had more time together. I will miss him.

Great colleague and sportsman. When I was living and working in Ontario, Oregon in the 1970’s Walt came over and went pheasant hunting with me. We had a good shoot on a couple of islands in the Snake River. I swore him to secrecy knowing he was going to chat with friends about a great trip. We always referred to where we hunted as the fictitious Fantasy Island.

We worked together at Newport Oregon for the Oregon Fish Commission. We both belonged to the Newport JCs where I was president. We lost track when I moved to the Portland Fish Commission Office in 1972

I met Spike when I was about 10 years old up at Hood Canal, and have considered him a friend ever since. He came from good stock. Walt and Phyllis were some of the nicest people you could ever meet, and they instilled that into all of their children.
Rest In Peace my friend. We will meet again in the happy fishing grounds where there are no limits or size restrictions.
