Walter James White, Sr., was born on December 22, 1950 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Elijah Ike White and Mae Judge White-Watson. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, in Moncks Corner (Cordesville), SC.

He was educated in the Berkeley County School System, attending Berkeley Training School (Wildcats) in Moncks Corner, SC and graduated in 1970.

Walter was a man of faith and attended Greater Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, where he once served on the Steward Board.

Walter was a Vietnam War veteran and served for two years in the United States Marine Corps, Second Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. His final rank was Lance Corporal. He also served in the United States Air Force Reserves where he was an Airlift Aircraft Maintenance Technician with the 315th Maintenance Squadron at Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina. He served in operations to include Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield and his final rank upon retirement was Master Sergeant. In his civilian life, he worked as a relay technician at Santee Cooper, Moncks Corner, SC, for several years.

He was united in Holy Matrimony twice: first to his former wife, Paula Lavinia Bryant White and later to Manolita Oligo White. His first marriage blessed him with two sons.

Walter had many hobbies: traveling, farming, working on cars, working with his tractor, playing tennis, bowling and coaching the girls’ softball team, The Cordesville Cougarettes. He enjoyed playing UNO with his sons every time the family got together. He loved talking with his sons, playing with his beloved granddaughter and spending time and sharing stories with his nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife Manolita; children, Walter James “Jai” White, Jr., Major USAF-Retired (Chieh-Wei Chiu), Reginald Cedric White (Angelica Beltran), Shamaiah Kentrell Lacey; and honorary son, Eric Seng; granddaughter, Aria Naphtali Beltran-White; siblings, Ernestine Fludd, Johnny Lee White (Sabine), Adlai Ike White, Patricia Ann Middleton, Bobby White, and Rev.
