Wanda Kunkle Howell

Many many years ago She always believed in me

As my summer camp teacher and choir teacher at Fisher, Mrs. Howell had a profound influence on my musical education. I think of her all the time. I am still singing today in large part thanks to her enthusiasm for music and her unmatched energy level and love of teaching. The heavenly choir will be whipped into shape pretty quick, in concert dress and hands clasped behind their backs. I send much love to her family.

Mrs. Howell was my music teacher at Antheil Elementary School in the late 60s - early 70s. I remember her for being very sweet, and maybe especially sweet to me as we shared the same first name. My deepest condolences to her family.

Knowing Wanda and getting to work with her at DVHA was a wonderful experience. Her knowledge and determination made her truly special. She will be missed but we all know that both Wanda and Doc Howell will always be watching over DVHA.

I will never forget meeting Wanda, or her daughter Aletia, after she married my grandfather Doc. She was truly a force for good in this world. All the happy times we spent together at the farm and the DVHA shows remain fondly in my memories. I especially loved her songs and work on the Alina Lodge album. I'm sure my Dad, Welling C. Howell, Jr., my sister Lauri Howell; my Dad's brothers, Jeffrey and David Howell, and their families, will miss Wanda as well.
