Rossi Funeral Home - Scotch Plains Obituary

Wanda A. Hvizdak, 93, of Westfield, formerly of Scotch Plains, died on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Runnells Specialized Hospital, Berkeley Heights. The Funeral will be from the Rossi Funeral Home, 1937 Westfield Ave. Scotch Plains, NJ 07076 on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 9:30am. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church, Scotch Plains, at 10:30am. The Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. The Visitation will be on Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home.

Wanda was born in Bayonne, moved and lived in Scotch Plains, and settled to Westfield. Wanda went to Cosmetology School in Newark. She worked for Antons Salon Spa in Fanwood and for the Lemon Tree "Your family hair salon" in Fanwood before retiring in 1978. Wanda was a member of the Scotch Plains Seniors and the Garden Club of Scotch Plains. Wanda liked to travel and has been across the United States and to Europe.

Wanda is predeceased by husband Emil G. in 1968; and her brothers Walter and Mitchell and sisters Blanche and Regina. Wanda is survived by her sons Emil and wife Beverly, Edmund and wife Judy, Alan and wife Jane, and Gary; her six grandchildren Erinn Kern, Sarah Murray, Maj. Jason Hvizdak, Brian Hvizdak, Robyn Trotta, and Zachary Hvizdak; her four great-grandchildren Nathan Trotta, Gabriella Hvizdak, Emil Murray, and Justin Trotta.
