Waneta F. Skinner, age 83 of Walkerton, IN, passed away on Monday morning, January 19, 2026 at her daughter’s home.  Waneta was born on September 1, 1942 in Elkhart, IN to Earl and Vesta (Hartman) Weaver.  She was a Wakarusa High School graduate and lived most of her adult life in the Walkerton area.  On February 19, 1971 she married Raymond C. Skinner in Elkhart.  He preceded her in death on July 7, 2012.  Waneta worked in the office for Stockberger Trucking in Plymouth, IN, where she retired from after 38 years of service.  She was a member of the Pine Creek Church of the Brethren in North Liberty, IN.  Throughout her life, Waneta enjoyed camping trips with family.  She was a bowler and bowled many seasons in the Plymouth Bowling League.  She also had a love for horses and was a part of the Marshall County Horse Association and the 4H Drill team.  Above all else, she loved her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.  She is survived a daughter, Monica Wise of Walkerton, IN; a step daughter, Vickie (David) Lutes of South Bend; 2 grandchildren, Jamie Jo Linback of Knox, IN and Casey Douglas Linback of Walkerton, IN; 1 great granddaughter, Oakland Susan Clemons; many step grandchildren; 2 sisters: Elaine LeCount of Goshen and Yvonne (Robert) Pepper of Elkhart; and a brother, Wayne Weaver of Florida.  Waneta was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Larry Wise; step son Mitchell Skinner; and 2 step daughters, Sherry Skinner and Susan Brown.  Visitation will be held from 10-11 am on Monday, January 26, 2026 with a funeral service beginning at 11 am, at the Yellow Creek Mennonite Church.  Pastor Wes Bontreger will be officiating. Burial will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in Waneta’s name can be given to Elara Caring Hospice, South Bend, IN.  Arrangements are with Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa.

So very sorry for your families loss. Many memories of her at school for Jaime or camping or horses. She was a fun loving always happy person!! Enjoyed her smile!!

Waneta was my stepmother for many many years and I loved her dearly she was i of the greatest people I have ever met, and I pray she's in a much better place surrounded by all those she loved and she's smiling and laughing and I hope she's on the back of a horse with the wind in her hair I loved you very much.
