Cartmell-Davis Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc. - Care Center Obituary

Warren Richard "Wally" Borgatti, age 67, died unexpectedly at his home in Plymouth on April 2, 2017. Born in Plymouth, MA on January 11, 1950, he was a son of the late Warren C. and Rose Marie (Tartarini) Borgatti. He was educated in Plymouth, a graduate of Plymouth Carver High School, Class of 1968 and went on to further his education by attending Bentley College. He had worked for the Registry of Motor Vehicles as a Drivers License Examiner. He was a lifelong Plymouth resident and a member of the Cold Spring Club and Unity Club. Over the course of his lifetime he played a variety of roles; Father, son, brother, uncle, dear friend to so many, and a consummate Jokester. He played two other very, very important roles as well, that of coach and mentor to countless children's lives for decades in the Town of Plymouth. What he gave to people on and off the field was priceless. Coaches are born not made, and "Wally" was born to coach, and born to care. He saw things in people that they didn't see in themselves. You always heard "Wally" before you saw him, he had a commanding presence for sure, and boy oh boy could he tell a joke or two. He was a kind, good hearted, generous, hardworking man. He loved coaching, sports, laughing, and most of all he loved and cherished his family with all his heart. He will be sorely missed by all the lives he touched. Warren was the longtime companion of Doris Hakkila and loving father of Andrea Lynn Irwin and her husband William and Michelle Lea Bartlett and her husband Benjamin all of Plymouth. He is also survived by Timothy Hakkila and Jeffrey Hakkila both of Plymouth, Michele Boyd of VA and Melissa Lowe of KY. He was pre-deceased by Robert Hakkila and Scott Hakkila both of Plymouth. He was the cherished brother of Wayne Borgatti and Karen Cabral and her husband Dan all of Plymouth. He leaves 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place in the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will take place on Thursday morning at 9:15 from the Cartmell Funeral Home, 150 Court St., Plymouth followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Peter's Church, 84 Court St., Plymouth at 10:00 a.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the Warren R. Borgatti Scholarship Fund, c/o Rockland Trust, P.O.Box 973, Manomet, Ma 02345.

Not sure what to say?

To a genuine, one-of-a-kind person!!! The Plymouth and surrounding community is not the same without you. You bled Plymouth North and the contribution you made to the kids first and the Programs will never be forgotten!!

Wally, I just heard about your loss. You always remembered my son as his baseball coach. Everytime I bumped into you, you would also ask about him, even though he was 38. You showed your commitment to
all of your kids. You always asked, "how is lefty?" I am so saddened by the loss of a great person. As an educator your loved ones will know what a difference you made do so many children and their parents in Plymouth.

Sorry for your Loss! My Daughter was Coach by Wally in youth Soft Ball. He was fun to be around. RIP Wally ,the Nadile Family !!

One of the greats. Wally was the coach we all wanted growing up - encouraging and supportive at all times yet able to help you push yourself to be a better player and person. As his former players grew up we all began to see Wally as a true friend and someone who would always provide a few laughs. Condolences to Wally's family - Coach Borgatti is already missed greatly.

Karen, I am so sorry to hear the loss of your brother. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family! ?? God bless

I remember Warren fondly. He was always smiling and made many people laugh. My prayers to his family and friends.

Wally was my coach when I was 13 to 15. I never new him before that. I'm 45 now and I still remember those few years like it was yesterday. he brought the whole team and there families close by just being wally. I feel blessed to have met u wally. And we won a championship with you as coach. Puritan clothing in babe ruth. My best years to date. R.i.p.

Wally/Coach - you were a great man and one of the most affable people I've ever been around. Your positive energy and humor around the diamonds and basketball courts was always appreciated. Thoughts to your family, from ours. You'll certainly be missed by many.
