My dad and Warren served together in the 508th PIR during WWII. Warren and I became good friends when I started attending paratrooper reunions with my parents. Warren was always willing to answer my many questions about the war.
My favorite memory about Warren comes from the Kansas City reunion when Warren tried to stop and elevator door from closing with his cane. The door cut his cane in two pieces and Warren was left holding a very short cane. I drove him to a local pharmacy...

Warren, You were always a special friend to me. I will miss your cheery letters. I will always remember how nice you were at the last reunion I attended in San Antonio with Cheyenne. You were a favorite with her also.

Warren was the most perfect of gentleman, one of the kindest men I have ever known. He was one of the first I always looked for when I attended the HQ1 reunions with my parents. I will not forget to cut a piece of cake for you Warren on our birthday. With love,

WARREN R. BROWN was an outstanding soldier, a magnificent, heroic and inspiring leader and my cherished friend. Warren and I served together from October 1942 until the end of World War II as paratroopers in the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, a regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division. We met at Camp Blanding, FL when "Mr. Brown" jumped off the back of a truck as a civilian newly sworn into the Army.
