Warren R Hamby, age 87, of Huntersville, North Carolina, previously of Loda and Plainfield, Illinois, passed away peacefully with his children by his side on Friday, August 15th, 2025 in Huntersville. Warren was born on June 19, 1938 in Mattoon, Illinois to Kenneth and Lillian (Kindel) Hamby. Warren married Patricia (McLain) Hamby on November 4, 1961 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They had 3 children together during their 62+ years of marriage. 


Warren worked as a Power Generation Field Engineer for General Electric for most of his adult life, retiring from GE in 1995. Warren retired from the United States Army Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1991.


Warren was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Francis E Hamby and Shirley D Hamby, his wife Patricia L Hamby, and his great grandson Maximus Jonathas.


Left to cherish his memory are his son William (Jenny) Hamby of Plainfield, Illinois, daughter Annette (Glen) Morrow of Huntersville, North Carolina, and daughter Michelle (Ken) Hogan of Grafton, Wisconsin; grandchildren Gillian (Michael) Jonathas, Kyle (Bea) Morrow, Hannah (Colin) Stephens, Lindsy (Nathan) Zeter, Sarah (Liam McKinney) Evinic, Margaret Hamby, Ryan Hamby, Joshua (Dani) Hogan, and Jacob Hogan; and 9 great grandchildren. 


Services for Warren will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Baier Family Funeral Services at 406 E Pells Street, Paxton, Illinois with a visitation at 9am with funeral to follow at the funeral home and burial with military honors at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Loda, Illinois.


Memorials may be made to Community in Christ Lutheran Church, Huntersville, North Carolina, The Salvation Army, or to Camp Luck for children with congenital heart defects and their siblings (campluck.com).
