Not sure what to say?

Happy may you rest in peace, Phil Van Hammen

I first knew Hap as Sam through Bud's ambulance. I worked in the lab at Blodgett and knew Sharon. Hap eventually learned phlebotomy was was the one I could call if things got hectic as he was close and could be there quickly. I also worked with Jill and Oscar and Kim. He was an awesome person and they had a wonderful family that were a joy to know. He will leave a big hole in the lives of his family and friends. He definitely made a positive impact on the world.

I had the pleasure of working with Hap for several years on the EGR fire department. We knew him as Sam. He was always someone you could count on.

I met Hap while working at Blodgett Hospital in the mid-60s. He was a real gentleman. We even took a trip together canoeing under the Mackinaw Bridge to Mackinac Island - quite an adventure!! One day I hope to meet Hap again in Heaven. My condolences to all who loved him here on earth.

My condolences to Hap´s family. I worked with Hap at MBT for 23 years until he retired. He was an absolute pleasure to work with. He always had a smile and a warm greeting for you. My wife and I enjoyed skiing with him and Sharon and the MBT ski club back in the early 70´s. He was the primary person to organize that club. I am sure he will be missed by all that knew him.

Hap was my scout master and mentor in Troop 215. He taught me and my fellow scouts positive life values that I still carry today. Hap was a great man who lived to bring up, and guide others. He didn't know it, but apart from my parents Hap was one of the greatest influencers on my life.

I send my deepest sympathy to Hap's family. How blessed I am to have known this wonderful man for so many years - through high school and then especially working on class reunions with him for years. He was a treasure. He worked diligently to keep his classmates together. His smile was contagious, and his efforts always greatly appreciated. His email and phone messages will be missed but his memory will remain within my heart.
