Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Sioux Falls Obituary

Warren Jean Jensen, 86, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away peacefully at Ava’s House Thursday morning, February 1, 2018

Warren was born January 10, 1932 in Triumph, MN to Anton and Dorothy (Hier) Jensen. He moved to Springfield, Minnesota as a youth where he was very active in playing baseball and football.

He served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea during the Korean War. Warren met and married his wife Arlean in 1955. Warren was a sales representative for Marigold Foods for many years. He coached boys’ softball, was involved in the Boy Scout program for many years as Troop Committee Chairman and Scout-O-Rama, and was involved in the Minnesota United Fund and Inventors Congress.

In 1969, Warren moved his family to Sioux Falls, SD. Here, he and his wife raised their family of five children. Music was always a big part of his life and Warren had a beautiful singing voice. There were times when Warren would sing while his wife, Arlean would play the piano.

He loved to hunt, especially with his sons and grandsons, enjoyed fishing trips, traveled the world to see the sites and spend time with his family, created wonderful diamond willow walking sticks, loved to take pictures, and enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife and family. He was always willing to help a scout obtain his Eagle Scout award.

Warren was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD where he has served as an usher.

Warren was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and is survived by his wife of 62 years, Arlean and 5 children; Terry (Rhonda) Jensen, Clearwater, FL; Gail (Paul) Pochardt, Greenville SC; James (Linda) Jensen, Lino Lakes, MN; Scott Jensen, York, SC; and Tony (Dulci) Jensen, Superior, CO; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to Our Saviors Lutheran Foundation, The Lutheran Hour Ministry, or Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.

Funeral services for Warren will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2018 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls with burial at 3:30 pm at the Springfield City Cemetery, Springfield, MN. Visitation will be at Heritage Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
