Not sure what to say?

Great English teacher! He is missed!

Dear Gladys: We remember Warren vividly, especially since he and your folks came to our wedding in NW IA some 54 years ago-where has that time gone. How are YOU doing? After another "repair" surgery last February 2019,things have gone slower than expected-sign of aging,I guess. We're living in Sioux Center,IA(608 7th Street-zip code is 51250).I didn't realize its eight years ago soon that Warren entered glory. The memories for you and your family-fond yet some sadness also,correct?Remember...

Mr. Versluis was one of my first teachers when we moved to Grand Rapids. He was very helpful in making me make the adjustment to a new school. He was a firm and fair teacher and a good man. We talked at our 40 year NHS reunion last month of his way of coming behind you in class and giving you a "Versluis" hold to get your attention if you were messing around in class. My deepest sympathy to you.

I meant to say I'm sorry for the loss of your dad. Sorry about that.

"My thoughts and prayers are with your family. My classes still hear tales of the feats of strength that Mr. Versluis would entertain our classes with to get us back on track. More importantly, I recall the lessons about treating others with respect and the importance of good manners as well as passing on his love of the English language. " Tim Palczewski (Big Rapids, MI)

I had Mr. Versluis for a teacher at Northview Jr. High and he made an impact that has lasted a lifetime. He taught me to love our language and how to express myself creatively through the written word. He made a difference in my life that is evident in the work I do every day.

Mr. Versluis was always a favorite teacher of mine (Northview Jr. High). He was always inspiring and encouraging. I join you in your sense of loss and pray for your peace.

My thoughts and prayers with all of you. Whenever anyone asks what teacher I remember most from my school years it was your father. He taught with sturness and yet compassion. A man who was well respected and left a part of him with many.

So sorry to hear of Mr. Versluis' passing. I too still use many of the techniques he taught me back in the 70s, and fondly recall the rending of telephone books in two, just to keep the wide-eyed class in line; or the breaking in two of an apple from the family farm. Such a nice, sweet man who truly cared about his students. We need more like him in the world. Tremendous condolences to the entire family.
