Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel - Hillsville Obituary

THE FAMILY REQUEST THAT MASKS BE WORN AND SOCIAL DISTANCING BE PRACTIED AT THE VISITATION AND FUNERAL SERVICE.

Waymon Light, Jr., 76, of Hillsville, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on August 14, 2021.  He was born in Carroll County to the late Waymon Light and Ruth Sowers Light.  He is survived by his wife Nellie Mae Painter Light of 56 years, son James Light and wife Sandra, son David Light, grandchildren Ashley and Tanner Edwards, Sarah and Kenley Meredith, Justin and Liz Light, Kelly Light and fiancé Joshua Myers, great granddaughter Lyla Edwards, brother Ted Light and wife Glenda, and   brother-in-law Burton Painter and wife Terri.

Junior served in the Army reserve. He worked for many years at Proctor Silex in Mt. Airy and then at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home until his retirement. He was a long-time member of Sky View Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and enjoyed volunteering his time. Nothing made him happier than being with his family and grandchildren.  Although he will be greatly missed by his family and friends, we are comforted by the knowledge that we will be with him in Heaven one day.

Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service which will be held at Sky View Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 17th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastors Wendell Horton and Gary Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Webb-Skyview Cemetery. The viewing will be held preceding the funeral from 10:00-11:00.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the Light family.
