Leson’s Funeral Home LTD. - Canora Obituary

With great sadness, family and friends of the late Wayne Babiuk announce his unexpected passing at Norquay, SK, on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the age of 50 years.

Wayne was born on September 26, 1974, to Mike and Malvena (nee Kowch) Babiuk in the Norquay Hospital, Norquay, SK. He received his elementary and high school education from the Norquay schools and graduated in June 1992. Following graduation, Wayne continued to help his dad on the farm and then went on to gain employment in other fields. Throughout his life, he worked in many different aspects, vocations, and jobs with varied companies which included Remcon, Precision Drilling, Derkatch Farms, Cherewyk Backhoe, and Griffith Farms.

One of his favourite hobbies was going to auction sales and collecting old vehicles to fix up and restore. He also enjoyed quadding and fishing with his friends. Wayne knew the importance of enjoying the company of others. He spent his spare time visiting and chatting with family and friends and had an exceptionally unique sense of humour.

Wayne was known for his welcoming smile; His contagious laugh, the way he brought people together, and his loyalty shown for his friends will always be remembered. Like a true best friend, Wayne always had your back. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Wayne was predeceased by his father, Mike Babiuk. He is survived by his mother, Malvena Babiuk; and his sister, Charlene Babiuk; as well as his extended family and relatives and the many friends he considered family.

In Wayne’s honour, a Memorial Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2025, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK, with Rev. Fr. Ivan Simko as celebrant. Committal followed in the Canora Cemetery, Canora, SK. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Wayne Babiuk.
