Wayne E. Devore, Sr., age 80, of Council Bluffs, passed away July 9, 2011, at Select Specialty Hospital in Omaha, Neb.
He was born April 2, 1931, in Burlington, Kan. He was a laborer at ConAgra Foods and was a steel worker at Griffin Pipe. After his retirement, Wayne was a general contractor doing various construction work.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne I. Devore, in 1993; grandson, Randy King; parents, Orvel and Frances (Gillette) Morey; 4 brothers; 3 sisters and brother-in-law, Leonard Hansen, Jr.
He is survived by daughters, Barb Riche, Kathy Kephart, both of Council Bluffs, Diane (Ron) Wilcoxen, of Minden, Iowa; sons, Joseph Devore, of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., Wayne Devore, Jr., of Council Bluffs; 23 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren; half-sister, Geri Devore, of Portland, Ore.; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family, Tuesday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service, Wednesday, 1 p.m., at the mortuary with Rev. Ronald Hopeland officiating. Interment Garner Township Cemetery with a lunch following at the Mile-A-Way. The family will direct memorials.
