Wayne E. Donnelly, 64, of Newbury Road, died Wed., June
13,
2007 at the Salem Hospital, Salem, MA after a long illness. He was born
in Attleboro, MA on Sept. 30, 1942 the son of Roger and Viola (Trombley)
Donnelly. He spent his early years in Seakonk, MA, attended East
Providence, RI High School, and after moving to South Sutton in 1957
graduated from New London High School in 1960
Wayne worked for Merrimack County Telephone Company in Warner, NH for
several years and then as a cable technician for Kearsarge Telephone Co.
which later became TDS. In 1976 he was injured in a motorcycle accident
which left him paralyzed and had to leave TDS. He started Nelson Hill
Electronics in 1984 and was in business for 20 years. He and his wife
and son installed dishes for satellite television and provided
accompanying services. He ran his business on the web, sold hardware
around the world, and provided programming services throughout the
country.
He was very patient and determined and did everything with a
mouthstick.
He was an avid Ham radio operator using the call sign KB1HJ and also
enjoyed his CB radio using Bullwinkle as his handle. Wayne ran a net on
his ham radio which is similar to a talk show and helped others with
computer questions and would beta test software. He
designed webpages for others and also himself using his
mounthstick. He created his own web site (www.kb1hj.com). The site
provided information for both ham radio enthusiasts as well as other
physically disabled people.
Wayne enjoyed snowmobile racing, motorcycles, fixing cars, and
hiking. Members of his family surviving include his wife of 45 years,
Lois
(Chadwick) Donnelly of Sutton, NH; a son and his fiance, Chris Donnelly
and Shannon Storm of South Sutton, NH; two brothers, Robert Donnelly of
Hopkinton, NH and Eugene Donnelly of Reno, NV; a sister, Joyce Dube of
Exeter, NH; nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 18, 2007 at 11:00 A.M.
in Millwoods Cemetery, Sutton, NH. In lieu of flowers memorial
contributions may be made to the Sutton Fast Squad,
P.O. Box 158, North Sutton, NH 03260 or to Handi-Hams
(http://www.handiham.org/), providing tools for people with disabilities
to learn Amateur Radio and technology skills, and to earn their Amateur
Radio licenses.
