Not sure what to say?

What a great man. I never saw him when he wasn't pleasant to be around.

Brent Scharman

My respect and condolences to the family of this great person who exemplified love to all he met. I was never blessed to have him as a teacher at Olympus (Class of '61), but Mr. Goates was one of those wonderful teachers who you knew loved loved the students. His annual "hike" of his pantlegs to display his school-spirit socks was looked forward to with anticipation and warmth. A true Titan-just a little older. Thank you, family, for sharing him with Olympus for so many years.

I had the rare opportunity to know Wayne both as a student and as a a ward member. He was my advisor in the Key Club and gave us great insight in serving the student body of Olympus. I also had the privilege to know him as a great leader in the Ward. He will truly be missed by everyone in the Ward and Stake. We are sorry for your loss but know that Carol is glad to have him with her. Geoff Colton

Wayne was a great man, neighbor and friend. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

We are grateful for Wayne's examples of hard work, love and service. He was a blessing to our neighborhood and community. Love to his family

Wayne Goates, our dear friend, is a hero of ours. He is faithful, gentle, and Christlike, as described in the wonderful graveside service. When we first moved into the Holladay 3rd Ward 28 years ago, he was still grieving Carol's passing. Yet we observed how Wayne went out of his way to comfort and support Wayne Volz, our neighbor who had recently lost his wife. Wayne is humility personified. We will always remember and revere him. We're so glad he has been reunited with Carol, and send our...

To the Wayne Goates family, remembering all the fun times we had together. Our Third ward activities, youth conference in the Uintah Mountains and breakfast in Milcreek Canyon on the 4th of July. The great times we had as friends and neighbors. We will miss our association to say the least.

Chuck Alvey and Family

Dear Janet,

I am sorry to hear that you're missing your father. My sympathies. I'm happy to hear that it was peaceful and that you were together.

Fun to hear about Lehi! Our family was in sugar beets as well there at the Lehi mill. That is a wonderful bio of your dad; I'm sure he loves it.

It's been forever since we've spoken, but I remember our days in school together fondly. Sending all my best wishes!
