On July 20, 1958, Wayne A. Hunter, was the second of two children born to the late Julius and Roberta Hunter, in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was also Loved and adored by his bonus parents, Jonah C. & Julie Person.
Wayne accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was baptized and joined St. Matthews Baptist Church in North Carolina. Once he met His lovely angel Brenda and they were united in Holy Matrimony, they chose to join and serve as Deacon and Deaconess at
Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Fairfield, Alabama. He later joined the Church of the Highlands in Irondale, Alabama, where he attended until his health failed.
Wayne attended Needham B. Broughton High School, where he graduated in 1976. After high school, he enlisted in the U. S. Army, where he served and was later honorably discharged. Once discharged, he enrolled at Shaw University and received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Management. On Shaw’s University campus is where he pledged Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., Delta Gamma chapter. He later enrolled at Rutgers University, earning a Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and Management, in 1985.
Wayne later joined the Birmingham Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi
Fraternity Inc. where he served as the Chapter Keeper of the Exchequer, Assistant Keeper of the Exchequer, Intake Chairman, Guide Right Director and most passionately as Board of Director for T.L. Hale Scholarship and Benevolence Fund Guarantor for the Hale Pruitt Kappa Komplex.
Wayne worked for The Social Security Administration and he retired in July 2019 as Division Manager in the Southeastern Program Service Center (SEPSC), after 31 years of faithful Federal service.
Wayne was preceded in death by his loving parents, in more recent years, his only brother, Kenneth Hunter, his aunt Dorothy Lewis, his aunt
Annie M. Cannady, his mother-in-law Callie Cheatem, his cousin Daphine Shearin and his aunt Goldia M. Hester.
On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at Brookwood Medical Center, Palliative Care Unit, God called him home to get his Crown.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his dearest angel, Brenda Hunter, who cared for him unconditionally, their two daughters, Monika (William) Irish and Atonne Hunter of Birmingham, AL; three (3) beautiful grandchildren, Uriel Irish, Zoey Irish and Christian Anthony Hunter. His
