Wayne Mullins, 88, of Wichita Falls, died on Monday, August 31, 2015.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Western Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Allen, officiating. Interment will follow at the Burkburnett Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
A son of the late Cleatus Wayne Mullins and Verona (Magness) Mullins, Wayne was born on October 21, 1926 in Alvord, Texas. Wayne joined the United States Navy at age 17 and proudly served his country during World War II. On January 6, 1946, Wayne and Daisy Katherine McDonald were married in Burkburnett, Texas the ceremony was officiated by Wayne?s grandfather, C.D. Mullins.
Wayne graduated from Draughon?s Business College and went to work for Production Credit Association (PCA) where he was hired as a bookkeeper and through his hard work and diligence he was able to rise to the position of President of the PCA and after 37 years with the company Wayne retired to spend more time with his grandchildren and travel with his wife, Daisy. Besides his family, gardening was Wayne?s other passion; he grew some of the best tomatoes around and loved to share his vegetables with friends and family. Wayne was ordained a deacon at Sunnyside Baptist Church in 1960 and served the Lord faithfully in this capacity for 20 years. For the past 20 years Wayne and Daisy were members of Western Hills Baptist Church.
Wayne was a quiet and gentle man however he had a strong presence. He loved his family and he loved the Lord. He was a shining example to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be missed by all.
Along with his parents, Wayne was also preceded in death by sons-in-law, Michael Heginbotham and Dennis Hinkle. He is survived by his loving wife, Daisy Mullins of Wichita Falls; daughter, Wyvonna Hinkle of Kamay; son, David Mullins and wife Rosalie; and daughter, Elizabeth Heginbotham all of Wichita Falls; grandchildren, Jennifer Bronaugh, Danny Wayne Lohmar, Scott Lohmar, Jill Sedgwick, Jeff Mullins, Jessica Wright, Shane Heginbotham, and Mindy Fredrickson; thirty-one great-grandchildren; sisters, Cleona Hardeman and husband Louis of Georgetown, and Wanda Pence and husband I.B. of Las Vegas, Nevada.
