Wayne “Buck” Simmons passed away Sunday, February 07, 2021. He was born August 5, 1941 to the late Carson and Ardath (Vanderheyden) Simmons. He was a 1959 graduate of Stockton High School.

Buck worked as a mechanic for Jim Baber and Kappes Standard. He married Pat Schiess on October 14, 1961 and they started farming in 1962. Farming was Buck’s passion and he and Pat worked side by side daily and were still actively farming. They milked for 35 years, earning several awards. In the past years, they continued to grain farm. In their free time they both enjoyed playing slots at local casinos or a trip to Vegas.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pat; his children, Brad Simmons of Lena, IL, Wendy (Al) Nowviock of Kent, IL, and Brian (Vicky) Simmons of Walkerton, IN; his grandchildren, Amber Nowviock, Adam Nowviock, Benjamin (Ruth) Chacko and Joseph Chacko; and his great grandchildren, Maddalyn Nowviock, Ashton Nowviock and Amori Chacko. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carol Althof.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Ladies Union Cemetery in Stockton. A memorial fund has been established.

Hello Pat I sent you a card

Growing up just down the road from Pat and Buck, I have many memories of driving past their farm and thinking what a rural showpiece it always was. Sometimes we would stop by to chat, and I always remember how much LIFE and enthusiasm there was with him. Our condolences to Pat and all the children and grandchildren.

Sorry for your loss . I ll miss waving at him and seeing him smile as I drove by every day.

So sorry to hear about your loss Pat. We remember how neat & clean your farmstead always has looked. Buck also always had a smile on his face. Our sincere sympathy.

One of the friendliest neighbors around. Always a big wave and smile when we drove by. Will definitely miss that. Our deepest sympathy to the family. The good lord got one of the best....

I am sending prayers and hugs to the family from FL. I drove by that meticulous farm many times as I drove home to our place not far from theirs. I am thinking of all of you.

He was a great guy I knew him well from HighSchol
