Wayne T. Smith, 60, died suddenly at home Wednesday evening. Wayne was born in Fall River the son of Helen (Nizalowski) Smith and the late Hector Smith. He grew up in Springfield and has lived in Agawam for the past 17 years. He was a supervisor in the Freight Trucking business for many years, most recently he was working for Conway Freight Company. He was an outstanding athlete and graduate of Commerce High School and a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Agawam. He loved sports and was a fixture in the Forest Park Touch Football League for over 15 years. He also was a longtime umpire for Softball. He leaves the mother of his children and love of his life, Doris Caroleo; two children Gianna and Garrett; his mother Helen; brothers Dennis and his wife Barbara, Mark and his wife Cheri and sister Gale Brown. Besides his father, Wayne was predeceased by a brother Gary Smith. He also leaves many loving nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday, February 19, 2016 at 10:00am with Liturgy in St. John the Evangelist Church at 11:00am. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00pm. For more details please visit curranjones.com.
