Not sure what to say?

I met Wendell when he was managing the Whisky Bar at the Paramount Hotel in NYC in the early to mid 90s. I would always stop by and have a drink with him. I remember when he told me he was moving out west and we discussed what sort of experiences he was likely to have out there. Then I would visit him at the bars and clubs where he worked in West Hollywood and we would meet for lunch. He was a soulful lovely guy and I miss him a lot and was thinking of Wendell tonight when I came across this...

I was Wendall´s lifeguard partner in Ship Bottom in the early and mid 80s. The best part of the day was hearing Wendell tell a story and laugh. He had a very good sense of humor and an incredible laugh. Sometimes he would bring his pet python to sit with us in the lifeguard stand and we would listen to music. I miss those days and especially miss Wendell. He was one of the most kind and gentile souls.

I think of him often. I thought of him as a brother for a few summers in our youth we drifted apart and I was saddened to hear from howie of his passing Our 19th street gang was some of my best memories

I met Wendell in New York in 1994. He was so kind to me. He knew I was sober and would always hook me up with free OJs in his bar. He moved to LA and I ran into him at the Chateau Marmount. We hung out for a good, long while. We had been through a lot of nights together in New York and his kindness and sensitivity I will never forget. He was the kind of friend where distance and time didn't matter. I really loved Wendell and everyone I knew who knew him felt the same way. It was my friend...

I recently learned of Wendell’s passing. I had the great pleasure of being Wendell’s lifeguard partner for several years on The Ship Bottom Beach Patrol. He was accepting, funny, and one of the best friends someone could ask for. We would sit on the beach all day, every day and tell stories. Wendell would also educate me on the music of The Cure and INXS. I am sorry to hear he is no longer with us but I am sure he is extolling the music of the Cure to someone lucky enough to sit next to him...

I loved him. He was wonderful to me. I continue to think of him fondly.

Dear Green family.

When I moved to LA in 1995 or 1996 Wendell helped me feel stable in a sometimes unstable town.
He always had a calm energy around him. We laughed a lot together.

He made a big impact on my life and I miss him.

Your family is in my prayers.

Dear Family of Wendell, deepest sympathies and regards, Wendell was thought of as a sort of mentor and advisor as he always had some knowledge to pass on. He will be missed by all who have had the absolute pleasure and privilege of being in his presence.

Dearest family of Wendell, I am so sorry and saddened by the recent events. I met Wendell on 19th street. Seeing his incredible warm smile made everyone feel immediately comfortable. We also went to college together. As a freshman it was a nice feeling to know that I had a true friend from the beginning. I remember meeting him at the shore(summer 1980) and then him telling me he had a pet skunk named sweat pea. I did not believe him. A few minutes later there was Wendell entering the beach...
