Werner K. Schneider 1943 ~ 2011 On June 15, 2011, Werner passed away peacefully in his sleep. Werner was born Nov. 11, 1943 in Strasbourg, France. He immigrated from Germany with his family to the U.S. in 1951. Werner was an Elder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He graduated from West High School. He earned merit badges at Camp Steiner, medals at Special Olympics, accolades for playing accordion at school assemblies, and had fluency in two languages. He brought joy to those around him through his musical talents, even teaching himself to play piano. He was an example of perseverance, optimism, loyalty, and righteousness. Beset with many physical and mental challenges, he still lived life with gusto, riding his moped, gulping Cokes, enjoying vacations at Lake Tahoe, Hawaii, and Disneyland, bowling, and enjoying music. Werner was an example of a life lived honorably with gifts and talents shared to the utmost of his ability. Werner will be missed by all those whose lives he touched. We rejoice with Werner that he has been released from his mortal body and is enjoying the blessings of the atonement. He is survived by his mother Charlotte, brother Siegfried (Sharon), sister Susi (Stanton), niece Marie McBride (Ryan), nephews Kurt Schneider and Reed Nielsen. Preceded in death by his father, Kurt. A celebration of Werner's life will be held at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 Highland Drive in Salt Lake City on Jun 21. Viewing at 1:00 p.m. and service at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be shared at www.wasatchlawn.com

Saddened to hear of your profound loss. Am aware that when we had last spoken, Werner's health had deteriorated and that it was becoming a challenge considering your mom's health. We all have fond memories of seeing Werner riding his red scooter up 3900 south to the gas station for a treat.

Sorry that we were unable to attend the service. Our thoughts are with you and your family.
