Werner Gilbert Wieser, 92, of Navasota, died Tuesday morning, August 8, 2017, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in College Station.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, August 11, 2017, at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Ted Cherry officiating. Graveside services and interment will take place 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017, in Grand View Memorial Park, 8501 Spencer Hwy. in Pasadena.
Werner was born November 25, 1924 in Rosebud, Texas to Paul and Selma Etzel Wieser. A retired machinist with Shell Oil, Werner moved to Deer Park in 1955. A former Asst. Fire Chief with the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Dept., Werner served the fire department for 25 years. He used his firefighting skills by teaching at the TEEX Brayton Fire Training Field at Texas A&M. In 1989, he moved to Navasota where he enjoyed working with his hands building bird houses and working in his garden. Werner loved riding his John Deer tractor, was a champion domino player and was known for his banana pudding. You could find him most any day enjoying the company of his friends at the Sunshine Center in Anderson where he was a past president.
A devoted husband and father, Werner took loving care of his wife, never leaving her side during her illness and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Navasota.
Werner was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ann Louise, brothers, Robert, Alfred and George Wieser and a sister, Pauline Ranly.
Survivors include daughters, Katrina Wieser Manuel and husband Randy of Spring and Penelope "Penny" Meyers of Crockett; son, Glenn Haigler and wife Kathy of Mustang Ridge; sister-in-law, Juanita Wieser of Friendswood; 7 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
