Dear Elaine and family -
So many of my teen-aged memories involve Wesley. He taught me so much more than music - devotion and service to Christ, steadfastness, faith, responsibility. It was such an honor to be his friend. I still treasure and use a small keychain that he brought me from Italy!
One of my fondest memories is of his remark when he was leaving Second Baptist: "I can always claim success - I taught Jeanne Riley to sing!"

Lynda and I just heard about Wesley. Our thoughts and prayers are with you right now. We just didn't know about this, or we would've been attending. Dear Elaine and family,
we extend our deepest sympathy to you. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Our late mother Elizabeth always spoke so highly of her cousin. As children, Judy and I enjoyed listening to stories about our cousin when he was a child and playmate with our mother. Wesley Surber, as he was called by all of us, was indeed a kind man with a great heart. I have such fond memories of Dr. Coffman as I had the great opportunity to have graduated from HSU's School of Music. He was such an inspiration to so many of us in our musical education and journey. Thank you, Dr. Coffman. You will be missed.

Dr. Coffman was the ultimate gentleman, and always an encourager. I am honored to have been one of his H-SU students, and always considered him a friend. You are in my prayers.

Dr. Coffman was the Dean of Music and my mentor when I attended HSU. HE was a very wise and kind man, and I appreciate the guidance he gave me at such an important time in my life. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Wesley made a significant impact on my life. I frequently have fond memories of my high school days that bring him to mind. He was a good man and a wonderful teacher.

Dear Elaine and family,
I was so saddened to hear of your loss of your dear Wesley. He was such a wonderful Minister of Music, as well as friend, when we sang in his Choir at Second Bapt. back in the early 60's, and I have very fond memories of serving with both of you there. I pray that God will give you His Comfort and His Perfect Peace in the knowledge that he is now with his Heavenly Father in his new Heavenly Home, where he is "whole" again, and where he will have no more pain...
