Mr. Gaab was a wonderful principal at NHS. He made an effort to get to know students and he always treated me with respect. He welcomed and valued my opinions. Maya Angelou said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Mr. Gaab made me feel happy. And I loved that he made arrangements for our class to graduate on the Blossom Music Center stage! Rest in peace dear Mr. Gaab.

I have the utmost respect for Principal Gaab, who navigated Normandy through raucous times, never losing sight of educational goals and offering guardrails for the liberties and freedoms we enjoyed as then newly-minted adults. I found him to be a rare individual: kind, humble and effective. And for that I am grateful.

He was and always will be "Mr. Gaab" to us - he was my Principal at Hillside Jr. High and at Normandy Sr. High. It was a special treat to see and talk with him again at our 51st class reunion for NHS. We are the ones who were blessed by his direction and leadership by example. Rest in peace Mr. Gaab.

I enjoyed listening to Wes´s stories when he came into the bank where I worked. He was the kindest and most genuine man I ever met. He will be missed by many. My condolences to the family.

I remember Mr Gaab as our Homeroom Teacher, the rock of the 1954 Independence class, our driving instructor, and our Biology teacher with greatest ability to tell stories. Mr Gaab was a welcome addition to our class reunions,

On behalf of the NHS CLASS of 1977 for whom he paid us 2 special visits on our 35th and 40th Class reunions.... "Mr. Gaab- we never would´ve made it outta there if it weren´t for you!" An incredible teacher and storyteller.... Every high school kid should´ve had him for princiPAL. Be well sir!
