Not sure what to say?

March 3, 2005

Dear Ellen, I am one of those many Texas "first cousins"! Anthony, in his Christmas card, told me of Bert' health problems. I placed Bert's name in our Prayer Petition Book in our Chapel here at Incarnate Word Convent.

No doubt, this is a very difficult time for you and your family. The write-up of Bert was beautiful. On learning of Bert's death, I arranged with Msgr. Tengler to have a Mass offered for Bert. May he rest in peace!

Ellen,

We send our love and deepest regrets for your great loss.

I know your family and your faith will see you through.

Dear Sarah and Odem family:
I was so sorry to read of Mr. Odem's passing. I remember many a day at your lively household, and his sure presence in the midst of all that energy. I especially remember one very fun trip we took to Poplarville (sp??) with him and Sarah and some of the other children. He was a good man, and a blessed one to have such a wonderful family. My thoughts are with y'all. Cindy Montgomery

All of the O'Connor family is sorry to hear of Mr. Odem's passing. Our love and prayers are with all of you.

Bert was a first class fellow with a keen sense of humor. Bert and I worked together at 1111 Tulane. His presence always seemed to take the edge off of the good natured rivalry between geology and engineering.
My wife, Billie and I send our prayers to the family.

Someone we will never forget...A truly great great friend who will be sorely missed.....Thanks Bert for being my friend......

We are all very sad to hear the news of Mr. Odem's passing. I will always continue to think of those emboldened, vigorous days of great humor and conversation passed in the Odem home, graced by the great love between Ellen and Bert, and charged by the genuine satisfaction with this life that they felt. We will miss him, and send all our love.

As a neighbor of Bert's brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Joanne, I extend my deep felt sorrow at the passing of Harry' "best friend". Bert, you will continue to watch over all of your blessed family and be free of all and any discomfort you have suffered. Your family's broken hearts are a direct connection to the love you shared with them. May G-d be with us for now, and forever more.
Amen
