WILBUR E. DEKEMA "Deke" Dycusburg, Kentucky Formerly Hobart, Indiana Age 89, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY. Wilbur was a former longtime Hobart resident and a retired electrican affiliated with IBEW Local #697 in Hammond. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Deke was a member of Lake Station American Legion Post #100 and member of Hobart VFW Post #5365 for over 50 years. He was the last surviving charter member of the Hobart Eagles #2498. Mr. Dekema was a former member of the Hobart First Christian Church and currently a member of the Dycusburg United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Kentucky Dam Village Golf Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorene Dekema, parents, Nick & Ilda (nee Hunter) Dekema, a sister and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Moneta Jean (Ferguson) Dekema of Dycusburg, KY; daughter, Barbara Dekema; and son, Bruce Dekema, both of Hobart; 3 grandsons, Chuck, Mike and Eric Pilbean; 2 sisters, Thelma (Charles) Bennett of Thompsonville, IL, Clara June Wiely of MI; stepson, Tim (Kim) Cannon of Paducah, KY; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 20, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, with Mr. Steven Campbell, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Hobart. Visitation is Monday from 2-5 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel. Ph: 219-942-2109 www.reesfunerealhomes.com
