Not sure what to say?

Wilbur and I grew up accross the street from each other. We were good friends. I will always remember our good times together. Rest in peace

Wilbur and I served as MPA's on that program set up during the time of the old Springfield MSC with Bob Hahn as our leader. He was always a great person to be around and I enjoyed his friendship over the years but hadn't seen him since I retired but kept in touch with his antics through active postmaster on the "other side of the state". Wilbur's family has my deepest sympathy and loving thoughts.
Rest in Peace my Postmaster Friend!

I have known Wilbur all my life. Growing up in Malden and then as an adult becoming church members with him and Patti. I wanted to share a funny moment that I will remember forever. We were in the cast at 1st Baptist (Judgment Day). Wilbur was the judge in the courtroom scene and I was a family member trying to plead for mercy for my loved one. During this one tour as I addressed the court I was supposed to say "Your Honor"please have mercy on him. instead I looked at Wilbur and said "Lord"...

My fondest memory of Wilbur is him in the Dining Room standing on the floor furnace eating ice cream in December of 1957 with snow and freezing weather. Being my first time in Missouri with snow I thought who would eat ice cream in the winter and stand on the furnace to keep warm. He welcomed me into the Thornton household with much love. Many good memories of past times. Love to Julie and Doug

Wilbur was a great boss and a good friend. He will be dearly missed.

Wilbur was one of the best postmasters, boss and friends I have had the privilege of knowing. Every morning when I opened my email I would see Wilburs positive greeting you are a special person, you are a postmaster. The only one in your community.

To the family of Wilbur Thornton - Wilbur was one of my "best buds" in grade school in Malden. I remember shooting baskets at his home every once in a while - the only girl -
always laughing and loving the game. He would deliver mail to my grandmother and kept up on the news from Port Arthur. Loved the visit to Irving while he was training in DFW area for the sports broadcasting field. Miss you friend....Dot Jones Scott
